Biography

Jason Smesrud received his bachelor’s degree in soil science at Evergreen State College and then went on to earn a master’s degree in bioresource engineering at OSU. While obtaining his degree at OSU, he worked on a field research project that involved working with farmers to reduce the impacts of nitrate and pesticide loading to groundwater under agricultural production.

Currently, Smesrud is a senior soil scientist and agricultural engineer with CH2M Hill. His experience in consulting includes beneficial reuse and land application of wastewater and biosolids, irrigation and drainage system design and modeling, water resource planning, vadose zone hydrology modeling and monitoring, and engineering of soil/plant systems for waste management and natural treatment system projects. He is a Certified Professional Soil Scientist, Professional Engineer, and Certified Water Rights Examiner.
